Press Release Boats and men
It is still a distinguishing feature of the Mini class. They sail on what others would call nutshells and they are all fools in love with their boats, they know every detail, qualities as defects. For many, they have spent hours tweaking the worksite ergonomics, a winch to move more efficiently, studying the trajectories of a hoist to remove the slightest friction, plunging his hands into the resin, to inlay skin with carbon dust. All have necessarily a particular history with their boat...
Transfer of power, converging paths, continuing an unfinished story, unusual construction, stories are sometimes used to describe this relationship as symbiotic Mini racers have with their boats.
Placing emotional
Between Xavier Macaire and Vincent Barnaud is the story of an award and a shared passion. Vincent ran on the Pogo 2 472 when he wanted to try the prototype. But he had established with his boat a particular and emotional relationship that was why he wanted his boat fell into good hands. By meeting with Xavier, Vincent felt he was finally the rare bird. In his first race, he pointed to the head turning Groix before dismasting. Purposeful, the boy decided to continue anyway and finished tenth in the rigging makeshift.
But fortune, precisely, Xavier had not it ! It followed a kind of leasing contract before Xavier becomes the owner of his final "Starter" that Vincent continues to closely follow the results.
Clan Magnen
Between Sébastien Picault and Paul Marette, there are obvious collusion. Even appetencies for small imperceptible technical details, even earlier disappointments, even architectural plan. Paul had built with his own hands, a prototype solid as a hold wardrobe, fine as a gazelle, quick as lightning. He was proud of his boat before it does burn accidentally in the port of Douarnenez for an unknown reason. Sebastian Picault had launched its first Mini-Transat building in a hangar, a boat of his own hands on the plans of an architect friend. But the boat's performance does not go... These first two missed appointments, both draw the conclusion that it must shift one's ground. Paul bought the old 'Vector Plus' and Sébastien the ex "Karen Liquid. Both boats have a track record under the keel and therefore come from the same architect plans Sebastien Magnen: it creates inherent links. At the point it whispers that the two partners could pool their resources well to build two new boats...
A model in a container
When Louis Mauffret, senior officer in the United States decides to return to France, he has a serious luggage, namely the boat he started to build in a shipyard near Rhode Island. Without keel, the boat is not ready to sail and start navigation with a mini 6.50 by crossing the North Atlantic, is not necessarily the ideal baptism. Whatever Louis will bring the boat in his luggage: a container will do. But tariffs are high. For now, the boat was not ready to sail, it will be regarded as a prototype model and therefore, the effect of personnel repatriated boat ... His status will come much later, after many months of work in a shipyard Finistere.
There are many other stories, but all fall under this evidence. Among the single handed skippers of the Mini circuit and boats, stories that arise are rarely imprint of the only functional relationship. Often a small dose of tenderness that pervades the many technical data. Ultimately our British friends might be right when they decided to assign female gender our beloved boats.
