Hardy winner of the general classification
Arriving second of the second leg between the Azores and Vendée a bit more than half an hour after the winner David Sineau, Adrien Hardy wins the first edition of the race Les Sables-Les Açores-Les Sables. The young skipper of Brossard has completed a very clever race and has remarkably sailed this 2340 way and back course.
Adrien arrived at 10h 15’ 18’’UTC, only thirty seven minutes after the winner of the leg, David Sineau (Bretagne Lapins) in Les Sables d’Olonne. Thanks to this great performance, the skipper of Brossard takes the victory of the general classification as he was more than two hours and a half ahead David Sineau in the Azores. The determination and the ability to get the maximum out of his boat of the young solo sailor (22 years old) who was among the favourite at the start. He thus had completed 256,84 miles in 24 hours with an average speed of 10,70 knots during the first leg !
The skipper of Nantes is one of the biggest revelation in Minis. And when you look at this route, Adrien Hardy proves to be very mature in the weather analysis and strategy. He already had finished in the fifth position of the 2005 Mini Transat 2005 with the same prototype, for his first ocean race. Adrien thus confirms today, with this very technical, maybe even more demanding course than the Transat 6.50, that he is among the young hope for solo ocean races.
