Sineau, winner in Les Sables d’Olonne
Bretagne Lapins' skipper has crossed the finish line this Friday morning and thus win the second leg between Horta and Les Sables d’Olonne. Fourth in the Azores, David Sineau is sure to be on the podium of the general classification and can even hope to jump on the second place of the general classification cumulating both legs.
In a dizzie weather, in a South-Westerly 5-8 knots breeze, wind that has clearly decreased arriving close to the Vendée coasts, the 2001 Magnen-Nivelt design arrived close to the finish line in front of Les Sables d'Olonne with jib and mainsail up. David Sineau has crossed the finish line at 9 heures 38 minutes 14 secondes UTC : Bretagne Lapins imposed himself after a tough battle during last night when seven solo sailors were still in position to win the second leg ! It thus took 8 days 19 hours 58 minutes 14 seconds to the solo sailor to complete the 1270 miles between Horta and Vendée.
A podium almost established
David Sineau thus has broken away last night and was some ten miles ahead Adrien Hardy on Friday morning : not enough to take the first place of the general classification. Indeed, the Bretagne Lapins' s skipper was fourth in the Azores, 2h 36’ 02’’ after Brossard. But the second place of the general classification was still at stake between David Sineau and Andraz Mihelin (Adria Mobil Too) who was twenty miles after the leader of the leg. This time, the difference should be enough for the skipper of Bretagne Lapins to take the second place of the general classification as he was only one hour and 23 minutes after the Slovenian in Horta.
